Breazee is a minimalist breathing app—built for Apple Watch. Four guided techniques with animation and haptics. Works offline, without distractions.
Breazee is an app developed exclusively for the Apple Watch that helps you reduce stress, improve focus, and support heart rate variability (HRV) through guided breathing exercises. The app features an intuitive user interface and multiple feedback channels, making it both accessible and easy to use.
Breazee offers several customizable breathing exercises:
HRV, Box (4-4-4-4), 4-7-8 (Relaxation) and another Box-Breathing Pattern (4-4-6-2).
With this technique, you inhale for 5.5 seconds and exhale for 5.5 seconds, without any pause in between. This results in a breathing rate of about six breaths per minute, which supports heart rate variability (HRV). Higher HRV is associated with a relaxed and adaptable nervous system. HRV breathing can help reduce stress, improve focus, and enhance overall well-being.
This method follows a structured rhythm and can be practiced in two variations:
4-4-4-4: Inhale for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 4 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, and hold again for 4 seconds.
4-4-6-2: A slightly modified variation where you inhale for 4 seconds, hold for 4 seconds, exhale for 6 seconds, and hold for 2 seconds.
Box breathing is commonly used by soldiers and athletes to maintain calmness, focus, and breath control. It helps reduce stress and anxiety and can be applied quickly in demanding situations.
With this technique, you inhale for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 7 seconds, and then exhale slowly for 8 seconds. This breathing pattern has a deeply calming effect on the nervous system and is often used as a sleep aid. It may help ease anxiety and guide the body into a state of deep relaxation.
Feedback Features
To support you during your exercises, Breazee provides multiple feedback options:
Haptic feedback::
Vibrations indicate the start and transitions between breathing phases
Audio feedback (optional): Sound cues to guide you through the exercise
Visual feedback: Animations and a timer display showing the current exercise phase
Power-Optimized Display During Workouts
To conserve system resources and optimize battery life, watchOS may reduce non-critical animations during an active workout. System-critical updates—such as time display and phase information—are always prioritized and updated reliably, as they are essential for the exercise. Visual effects like simple circular animations are considered optional and may therefore be updated less frequently. This is an intentional design choice to ensure accurate and efficient presentation of the most important training data. A simple tap on the screen reactivates the phase animation whenever you wish to view it.
